Dr. Yi Ju Chen joined the Proactive team in November 2015 as our Physical Therapist.
During her years as a dancer and volleyball player, Dr. Chen suffered from many different sports injuries. She began to explore the appropriate treatment for herself, as well as the endless possibilities of our bodies. Throughout her studies, she learned many different aspects of physical therapy, including dry needling, craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, Gyrokinesis and Pilates. She also organized a series of foam roller exercises for self myofascia release.
Dr. Chen received both her bachelor's and master's degrees in physical therapy from Yang-Ming University in Taiwan. After a few years of clinical practice, she finished her Doctorate degree from Loma Linda University in Southern California.
Dr Chen believes that the purpose of a physical therapist is to help the patient prepare their body for the healing process. The only one who can actually cure the patient is that patient him/herself. When the body is manipulated into a holistic, balanced condition, it is able to heal itself. Dr. Chen enjoys exploring the weaknesses and imbalances the patient is experiencing and then creating a unique treatment plan specifically designed for them. Everyday she feels rewarded when she is able to help a patient get back to their "normal" life and activities.
